Barbara Fulton Byrd, formerly of Concord, MA, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Bridges by Epoch in Hingham. She was 91.
Born in Boston on January 27, 1935, Barbara was the daughter of the late Martin and Cera (Lidh) Fulton. After attending Middlesex Community College, she enjoyed a long and dedicated career in publishing as a Technical Editor for Houghton Mifflin in Boston.
Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into raising her children and created a home filled with warmth, good food, and lively gatherings. She loved gardening, hosting friends and family, cooking holiday meals, and cheering on her beloved Patriots and Red Sox. In her younger years, she especially treasured weekends spent with her parents on Cape Cod. She was also known for her impeccable sense of style—always put together, always uniquely Barbara.
Barbara leaves behind three children: Gregory Byrd and his wife Barbara of South Weymouth; Jennifer Bradley and her husband Scott of Cambridge, MD; and Douglas Byrd and his wife Meluchi of Merrimack, NH. She was the sister of the late Robert E. Fulton and the beloved aunt of three nieces and one nephew. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Frederick Byrd.
Private funeral services will be held at Dee Funeral Home in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org or to a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
