Audrey Jutten Lawser passed away at age 99 on July 12, 2017, at Brookhaven at Lexington, where she lived for nearly a quarter century.
Audrey was born during a raging snowstorm in Hamilton, Ontario on April 13, 1918, to Charles K. and Myrtle G. Jutten. She was the second oldest of four Jutten sisters, granddaughters of Thomas Jutten, a two-term Mayor of Hamilton and a Member of Parliament. A bright child, Audrey started school at age 4. Despite being hospitalized with scarlet fever for 2 months, she skipped two grades in school and completed Canada's 13-year school program at age 16. Her family could not afford college because of the depression so she started work at a bank and was known as very perceptive in evaluating loan applications.
In 1940 she married John Jacob Lawser of Ardmore, PA and immigrated to the United States, becoming a US citizen in 1950. She resided in Ardmore, West Oak Lane, and Abington, PA; Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, MI; and Lexington, MA. In addition, she spent winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She was a homemaker whose greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, baking, and playing bridge with friends. Her husband John predeceased her in 1992.
She is survived by her two children: John Lawser of Holmdel, NJ (and his wife Sarah Lawser) and A. Jane Warren of Lexington, MA (and her husband Wayne Warren); granddaughters: Susan Voss of Northampton, MA (and her husband Paul Voss), Dr. Amy Curran of Newtown Square, PA (and her husband Dr. Sean Curran), Linda Warren of St. Louis, MO, and Molly Warren of Washington, DC; and great-grandchildren: Erin Voss, Jasper Voss, Anne Curran, Daniel Curran, Grace Curran and Sean Curran.
In keeping with Audrey's wishes, there will be no funeral service, and her family will celebrate her life at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
