Assunta I. “Sue” (Rizzitano) Castrichini, a lifelong Concord resident, died peacefully at home on June 3, 2026. She was 101. Sue was the beloved wife of the late Alexander C. Castrichini, who died in 2004.
Sue was born at Emerson Hospital on February 27, 1925 to her parents, James and Francesca Rizzitano. She lived with her family on Musketaquid Road at the base of Nashawtuc Hill where she loved to sled and ski. Sue and Al’s labor of love was building a home themselves from scratch on Monsen Road. Sue lived there until she was 99 years old before moving in next door with her son Peter and Beverly.
Sue worked as a real estate title examiner for the law firm Corish & Vincent in Somerville and at the Registry of Deeds in Cambridge for 65 years until retiring “early” at 90. During her career she made life-long friends that visited her regularly.
One of her many passions was entertaining and cooking. She was known for her home-made chocolate chip cookies, cheese cake, apple pie, whippie pies, chocolate eclairs, meat balls, sauce and countless other delicious dishes. Her table was always full and guests left stuffed and smiling. She especially looked forward to the annual Christmas ravioli making tradition with the entire family and enjoyed seeing great grandkids covered in flour. Sue was also an avid wreath maker and tray painter. Her works of art were proudly displayed in her home. Recently she took up bird watching, nothing got her riled up more than squirrels on the feeders!
Sue was a connecter, bringing all branches of family and friends together routinely to celebrate events and just to be together enjoying life. She made everyone feel welcome and wanted them to enjoy themselves as her guest.
She is survived by her son Peter and daughter-in-law Beverly Castrichini of Concord, grandchildren: Ashley, husband Adam Mikkleson, great grandchildren Ollie, Alex, Ellie, Beatrice, and Bastian of Concord; Alexander and wife Emily Castrichini of Concord; Peter and wife Kate Castrichini of Beverly; and Trevor, wife Patty and great grandchild Patrick Castrichini of Boston.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Sunday, June 7 from 4 to 7 pm. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 8 at 9:30 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Please click here to access the church live stream.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to support the new Emergency Room building at Emerson Hospital by donating to their Transforming Health Campaign.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
