Anthony J. Sorrenti, Jr., 82, a lifelong Concord resident, died on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a brief illness.
Born in Concord on December 16, 1934, he was the devoted son of the late Antonio and Frances Sorrenti. He was a 1953 graduate of Concord High School and was previously employed by Factory Mutual, Inc. He was a tremendous sports fan. He played some sports during high school and participated in several adult baseball, softball, and hockey leagues. Many of his teammates called him by his nickname, "Ebba". He passionately followed professional sports, and the Red Sox were his ultimate favorite.
Mr. Sorrenti's source of pride was the upkeep and care of his garden. Whether it was the gorgeous flowers he grew or the variety of fresh vegetables he tended to, the care of his garden and property were of utmost importance to him. He also enjoyed sharing his flowers and vegetables among numerous family members and friends. He made many of his garden ornaments, which was featured on an episode of Chronicle.
He is survived by his niece, Dollina Borella of Concord, his nephew, Donald R. Sorrenti and his wife Sandy of Salisbury, MD, two grand nieces, Gina Borella Stark and her husband Troy of Tampa, FL and Christina Borella of Concord. He was also the caring brother of the late Peter and Domenic Sorrenti.
A period of visitation will begin on Friday, September 22nd at 9 am in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
