IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew Gregg
Wiggin
January 30, 1961 – May 3, 2024
Andrew Gregg Wiggin (Andy), formerly of Concord, passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsville, VA on May 3, 2024, at age 63 after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Andy's children and his wife were by his side when he went home to be with the Lord.
Andy was born at Emerson Hospital on January 30, 1961, to Alice Bemis Wiggin and Richard L. Wiggin II. Andy attended Concord elementary and middle schools and graduated from Concord Carlisle High School in 1979. An excellent student, he received his Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Springfield College. Andy received his Juris Doctor in 1990 from Regent University of Law.
In his distinguished career as a defense attorney, he represented 5,000 clients, maintaining a high rate of success, including many felony reversals. Legendary for scrutinizing complex cases, finding overlooked issues, and confidently confronting opposition, Andy was sought and appointed by all levels of Virginia Courts for problematic cases. After closing his Chesapeake, VA law practice in 2015, Andy wrote his novel A Warm Day at The South Pole, a book he had been researching and preparing to write for decades. Andy was also part of a team that updated the New American Standard Bible to its current 2020 version. He was honored to be an integral part of that effort.
Andy is survived by his wife, Cathy whom he met in high school, and later fell in love with and married in July of 2013. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children from a previous marriage, Daniel Gregg Wiggin (Lauren), and Victoria Elizabeth Wiggin, as well as three grandchildren. Andy was immensely proud of his children and spent as much time with them in recent years as he could. Being called "Papa" by his three adorable grandchildren, Lincoln James Wiggin, Haven Elizabeth Wiggin, and Weston Hayes Wiggin inspired him to fight hard against this tough cancer. Andy is also survived by his two stepchildren, Brennan Patrick O'Donnell, and Riley LeeAnn O'Donnell. They felt so blessed to have such a caring and influential stepfather in their lives. Andy was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Bemis Wiggin and Father, Richard L. Wiggin II. Andy also leaves behind several aunts and Uncles, whom he stayed close with, as well as cousins that he enjoyed spending time with in Vermont, Colorado, California and at the family home in Maine.
Andy was a caring friend to old and new friends alike. In his final weeks and days, he would make a point to pray for others. He had tremendous faith and being a blessing to others in his final days was at the forefront in his mind. Much of his life was dedicated to furthering the Kingdom of God, and he used every opportunity to share the Gospel with friends and strangers.
A celebration of Andy's impactful life will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 2:00 pm at Calvary Chapel Fluvanna, 2772 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy in Palmyra, VA.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 10:00 am at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 361 Bedford Street (Knoll Section), Concord, MA.
