André R. Dion, age 91, of Concord, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on January 25, 2018. He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Betty F. (Adams) Dion.
Mr. Dion obtained a PhD in Physics from Université Laval in Québec City in 1954 and relocated to the United States in 1960 to accept a position at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He settled with his family in Concord in 1970. An accomplished physicist, Mr. Dion made significant contributions to the field of microwave communications and radar antenna design for satellites. He will be remembered as a talented skier, tennis player and an avid gardener. His greatest joy came from his love of family and the time spent with them.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children: Alexandra Dion, Louise Dion (Gary Barnett), Eric Dion (Martina Lin); 3 grandchildren: Sadie, Nathalie and Isabelle; a sister, Murielle Croteau (Dion) and her husband André of Québec City; his sisters-in-law Marguerite Dion (Bilodeau), Lucienne Dion (Gagnon), Louisette Dion (Têtu), Lola Giguére (Adams) and Micheline Adams (Galibois) of Québec City, Andrée Adams (Thibault) of Montréal; his brothers-in-law Michel Potvin of Québec City, and Jerry Adams and Russell Adams of Montréal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday February 2nd from 5 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday February 3rd at 11 am at Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. The family will receive friends at the church a half hour prior to the service. His ashes will be interred at a later date in Québec City.
