Allan Chandler Brackett, 89, of Brewster, MA and Beverly Hills, FL, formerly of Concord, MA, died at Cape Cod Hospital on Monday, December 30, 2019.
Born in Medford on August 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Gorham and Hazel (McAuley) Brackett. He graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1948, and subsequently served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Cascade during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1953, Mr. Brackett furthered his education by graduating Cum Laude with an economics degree from Tufts College in 1956. He also earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Boston University in 1957.
His professional career included serving as Treasurer for Babson's Reports in Wellesley, MA from 1962 until 1986, and acting as Senior Vice President for United Business Service in Wellesley from 1986 until 1995. Mr. Brackett also managed the Isabel Babson Memorial Library as both Treasurer and President from 1962 until 2019.
A passionate golfer, he proudly accomplished his "Hacker's Grand Slam of Golf" which included a hole in one, a sub-par round, shooting his age, and winning the Francis Ouimet Tournament in Marlborough, MA.
He leaves behind his longtime companion, Helen Kennerly of Scarborough ME, his brother Warren Brackett of Lafayette, CA, one son, Gary Brackett and his wife Betsey, of W. Chesterfield, NH, one daughter Sandra Andreson of Maynard, MA, a granddaughter Elizabeth Coard and her husband Mackey, grandson Ryan Brackett, and granddaughter Kate Brackett.
Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford will be private.
