Alfred Ernest Williams, Jr., 71, of Waltham, Massachusetts died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He was born in San Luis Obispo, California on August 31, 1945, the son of the late Alfred E. Williams Sr. and Dr. Sarah C. Williams.
During his youth, Mr. Williams attended the California Institute of Technology. He initiated his career in computer programmer when he was employed by the county of San Luis Obispo. He later earned a Master of Science in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance from the University of Southern California.
For the past several years, he took pride in his work as a Software Engineer and engaged in numerous business ventures.
He served as an Officer in the Civil Air Patrol, a First Responder for the American Red Cross, and was a member of Mensa International. He was a devoted volunteer throughout his life and enjoyed a broad range of interests including astrophysics, history of the American Civil War, and US politics.
He leaves behind his sons, Alfred Harlan Williams of Salem, Geoffrey Dylan Williams of Haverhill, and Robert Lawrence Williams of Waltham, his companion, Julia Ravalski of Waltham, and is also survived by Kathleen Susan Williams of Haverhill.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his celebration of life in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Saturday, December 3rd from 1 to 4 pm, with a memorial service at 4 pm.
