Obituary

Alden "Denny" Briggs, 73, of Acton and formerly of Concord, died March 19, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Karen Briggs. Born in Hingham in 1938, he was the son of Hazel and Alden Briggs of Hingham, MA. He attended Hingham High School (1956) and Harvard University (1960) and served in the US Navy. He spent most of his career as a Management Consultant at Arthur D. Little in Cambridge. An active member of St. Anne's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Lincoln for decades, he served in many positions and sang in the choir for most of that time. He was also a member of Boston Saengerfest Men's Choir, traveling and singing with them for years. An avid athlete since boyhood, he was a regionally ranked tennis player, lettered in both Harvard squash and tennis, and also enjoyed golf. He is survived by son Timothy of Sammamish, WA with wife Kimberly and their daughters Katherine and Elena, and by daughter Thyra of Upland, CA with her husband John and son Anthony. He is also remembered by sister Brenda of Charlottesville, VA with her husband Glen and nieces Sarah and Anne…and by the many, many people who knew him as a kind and gentle friend. Memorial service will be held on May 3rd at 2 PM at St. Anne's in-the-Fields Church in Lincoln, Massachusetts.
