Obituary

Albert "Joe" Lawrence, 71 , of Rye, New Hampshire, formerly of Concord, Mass. and Acton, Mass. died Saturday September 26, 2009 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was the beloved husband of 48 years of Patty E. Lawrence. Born in Lowell on July 26, 1938 he was the son of the late Albert and Julia (Lips) Lawrence. He grew up in Concord, attended Concord schools and was a 1957 graduate of Concord High School. For six years he was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. Mr. Lawrence retired in 1993 after a thirty-five year career with the Town of Concord, retiring as manager of the Public Works Department. He was a long time supporter of the Concord Independent Battery and was a former member of the Musketaquid Sportsmans Club in Concord and the Maynard Lodge of Elks. More recently, he has been a member of the Dover, New Hampshire Lodge of Elks. From 1963 until 1994 he resided in Acton until moving to Rye, New Hampshire. He also enjoyed spending time at his home in Englewood, Florida. In addition to his wife Patty, survivors include his children, Albert J. Jr. and his wife Tricia E. of Madbury, New Hampshire, Jane E. Wade and her husband John F. of Rye, New Hampshire and Michael P. of Madbury, New Hampshire, his grandchildren, Reilly and Katelin Lawrence and Jack, Anna and Ross Wade, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Frances Manning, Gertrude Tofferi and Eileen Palmeri. Funeral was held Thursday October 1st from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday September 30th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
