Adele Skinner, aged 100, of Concord and Mykonos, Greece, passed away on August 12 after a brief illness. 

Adele was born on December 24, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA. Adele’s undergraduate studies were completed at Carnegie Mellon, and she later received a Master’s degree in English from Columbia University. 

She worked for several years as a magazine editor before retiring to raise a family. She taught modern dance and continued her studies in the arts, resulting in her decades-long position as a docent at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Adele was also an accomplished ceramic artist, specializing in pieces that combined her love of Greek art and literature with her skills in sculpting. 

She is predeceased by her husband, James Carter Skinner; her former husband, Richard Nelson Archer; and her brother, Byron Fielding. She is survived by her son, Jonathan Archer (Joan Barron Archer); stepson, David Skinner (David Knoll); stepdaughter, Victoria Skinner Rosenberg (Fred); her four grandchildren, Alicia, Alexis, Tyler, and Dylan; and her great-grandson, Chase. She is also survived by her niece, Rebecca Fielding, and her nephew, Aaron Fielding. Her love of learning and being open to new experiences kept her active, vibrant, and engaged with her family, friends, and community. She will be greatly missed.

Adele was laid to rest during a private burial service on Friday, August 14th at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
