CHARLES
W. DEE, SR. — Licensed Funeral Director
A third generation funeral director, Charlie began employment in 1948 following his graduation from New England Institute in Boston. He joined his father, James Hugh Dee, and grandfather, Joseph Dee, Jr., in the business following his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Eighth Air Force, during World War II. Charlie was the recipient of six Bronze Battle Stars during his years of military service. The French Government honored the 801st/492nd Eighth Air Force Bomb Squadron with the Croix de Guerre Citation for their military service. He has served the Town of Concord in many capacities over the years, including, Burial Agent, Chairman and longtime member of the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Committee, Registrar of Veterans Graves, Chairman of Parks and Monument Committee, Past President of the Concord Rotary Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association. In 1997, he and his wife, Nancy were selected as Concord's Honored Citizens. A lifelong Concord resident, he is the father of three children, Sherry L. Mobley, Susan M. Dee and Charles W. Dee, Jr. and grandfather of Pamela J. Pickering, Matthew C. Adams, Nathan P. Mobley, Blayne E. Dee and Daniel V. Dee, and great grandfather of Tucker G. Adams, Griffin M. Adams, Foster C. Adams, Emerson I. Adams, Paige M. Pickering and Leah I. Pickering.

CHARLES W. DEE, JR. — Licensed Funeral
Director
A lifelong Concord resident and fourth generation funeral director, Charlie began his career with the firm in 1979. He received an A.S. in Funeral Service from New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences and a B.B.A. from the University of Miami in Florida. Charles is a member of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He is currently a member and treasurer of the area Board of the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families (D.C.F.) which provides support to foster children, foster families & D.C.F. social workers. He has served the town on numerous committees including, Concord’s 350th Anniversary, Public Ceremonies and Celebrations, Year 2000 and on the Advisory Board for the Senior Project at Concord Carlisle Regional High School. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Concord Council on Aging and the author of a regular column on the subjects of interest to senior citizens in The Concord Journal. Charlie has been a long time Incorporator of the Deaconess Abundant Life Communities of New England Deaconess Association. For many years he has presented seminars featuring historical Concord films taken from the 1930’s through 1960’s to the many business, social and service groups in the Concord area. These 16 mm movies of Concord’s past were originally filmed by his great grandfather, Joe Dee and his father, Charles Dee Sr. A former Concord-Carlisle High School athlete and graduate of the Class of 1974, he presently serves as a coach with the Concord Carlisle Youth Baseball organization. He resides in Concord with his wife, Dari and sons Blayne and Daniel. |

SUSAN
M. DEE — Licensed Funeral Director
A fourth generation and Concord’s first female funeral director, Susan began employment in 1986. She received her funeral director’s license in 1988 following her graduation from New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston, where she was the recipient of the Humanitarian Award. She later received an Associate in Science degree from Mt. Ida College in Newton Centre and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Harvard University in Cambridge. She is active in both her high school and college alumni associations. She is a member of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association, a longtime member of the Concord Chamber of Commerce and Charter member of The Women’s Connection. She is a Director of the Friends of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and served on the Celebration Committee in 2005 for the 150th anniversary of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Susan is a fourth generation member of the Concord Rotary Club, the Harvard Club of Concord and has served as a long time Incorporator of the Deaconess Abundant Life Communities of New England Deaconess Association. A Concord-Carlisle High School graduate, Susan is married to Mark Johnson. She is the mother of two children, Pamela Jean Pickering and Matthew Charles Adams and grandmother of Tucker Gary Adams, Griffin Matthew Adams, Foster Clifford Adams, Emerson Isobel Adams, Paige Margaret Pickering and Leah Isobel Pickering. |
